Upgrading Weapons is one of four ways to enhance stats and damage in the game. The other three ways are Stats Allocation, via Accessories and Enchantments. Upgrading is a feature added in Update 17.3, mobs in each island will drop specific materials which can be used for upgrading Swords and Guns at the Blacksmith NPC or buying certain items like the Soul Guitar.
